Our Story

Ziltek was
founded to solve
increasing global
environmental
issues.

Ziltek was founded in 2008 by Managing Director Dr Richard Stewart based on patented technologies that were developed with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the Australian Federal Government’s flagship national R&D organisation. These technologies have now been fully commercialized and are sold globally as well-recognized brands; RemScan®, a portable handheld tool for the rapid detection of hydrocarbon contaminants in soil and RemBind®, a chemical fixation reagent for the remediation PFAS and other organic contaminants in soil. Other products in the Ziltek range include RemActiv™, a liquid concentrate for enhancing bioremediation of organic soil contaminants and AquaGate® with RemBind® Inside, a composite product that is used to treat PFAS in groundwater through reactive barriers.

Dr Richard Stewart is recognized globally as an Industry Leader in the field of PFAS remediation. He holds a PhD in biological chemistry from the University of Adelaide and has qualifications in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas and in Product Innovation from Harvard University. Richard is a regular presenter at international conferences in PFAS remediation.

Chairman, Mr Denis Harwood, has more than 40 years of relevant experience in early stage technology commercialization in USA, Europe and Australia. This included roles as Executive Chairman of Minelab which sold handheld metal detectors worldwide, and CEO of the first venture capital company in Australia (founded 1983).
